About me...
Amanda understands that going to therapy can be uncomfortable and awkward, so her goal is to walk alongside you while welcoming you to a judgment-free environment and providing an empathetic listening ear that can handle the good and the bad experiences.
Amanda enjoys working with adolescents, teens, adults, and couples, as well as self-esteem issues, adjustment and transition issues, anxiety, depression, grief, chronic illness, and relationship issues. Amanda desires to provide a safe space for others to lay down their burdens, grow, and rewrite their futures into ones filled with joy, hope, and a healthy mindset. Amanda was born in Landstuhl, Germany, but grew up moving around because of her mother’s military assignments. Amanda attended six elementary schools, one middle, and two high schools. Upon graduating high school, Amanda moved to Nacogdoches, Texas, to attend Stephen F. Austin State University. When Amanda graduated in 2006 with a B.A.A.S. in Speech Communications and English as a Second Major, she was married and had given birth to her first son. After teaching high school English for three years, her husband came home with a job proposition that would change their lives, an opportunity to work in Lagos, Nigeria. Over the next thirteen years, the family would go on to live in Lagos, Nigeria, Chengdu, China, Atyrau, Kazakhstan, and Luanda, Angola. During this time, she volunteered in her host country: helping in schools and churches, providing emotional support for single mothers, organizing drives for orphanages, and assisting new families in transitioning to life in a new country. With over a decade of experiences spanning four countries and many volunteer initiatives, Amanda felt a spark ignite that drove her to attend Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to earn a Master of Arts in Counseling. Amanda has learned that life is not meant to be lived in isolation; it is okay to need help and reach out for connection. Amanda enjoys spending time with her husband and their three comical sons in her free time. Spending time as a family often involves playing board games, volunteering, a beach, music, and laughter. |
